FRED, "Les Fredy's" Collection, Years 1980-1990 - Lot 254
FRED, "Les Fredy's" Collection, Years 1980-1990 "Penguin" brooch in yellow gold 750‰, mabé cultured pearl and black lacquer, the animal's eyes set with round faceted sapphires, highlighted with brilliant-cut diamonds. Pin in yellow gold 750‰. Signed "FRED PARIS". French work, diamond hallmark of Atelier DORSEY. Dimensions: 3.2x1.6cm. P. Gross weight : 10,4 g. (Sapphire chips). Our Penguin brooch belongs to the series of precious figurines called "Fredy's". This collection appeared in 1989, using precious materials such as cultured pearls to stylize the characters' heads or bodies, like our penguin. Worn as brooches or pendants and called "Le Matelot", "La Chipie", "l'Ange", "l'Amoureux" or "Le joueur de Football", these figurines were a big hit in the 1990s. Since then, Maison Fred has called on Jean-Paul Goude and Japanese fashion designer Tomo Koizumi to complete the series. An identical model was presented at the "Paris, Capitale de la Perle" exhibition, held at the Ecole des Arts Joailliers, from November 21, 2024 to June 1, 2025.
