Adapted to the fashion and preciousness of the Art Deco period, the clip offers an infinite number of ways to wear it, on clothes, hats or as an evening bag clasp.
Our brooch model can be compared with creations from the same period by Van Cleef & Arpels. Created in 1930, the "Cercle" clip is a key piece in the history of Van Cleef & Arpels. The Atelier des frères Rubel, closely linked to the history of the House of Van Cleef & Arpels both in France and in its development in the United States, was the manufacturer of this clip model, which can feature a wide variety of decorations and precious materials.
Bibliography: Similar clip models from the House of Van Cleef & Arpels, as well as a page from a 1930s catalog showing the clip's range, are reproduced in Sylvie RAULET's book "Van Cleef & Arpels", Editions du Regard, 1986, P. 179.
