First edition of this work published by the Indo-Chinese Railway Construction Company, recounting the extraordinary adventure of the construction between 1904 and 1910 of the railroad line linking Hai-Phong in Vietnam to Yunnan-Fou (now Kunming) in Yunnan province, via Lao-Kay. Volume I is illustrated with a color frontispiece and 85 plates (including 4 in color), based on photographs taken on site from 1904 to the inauguration, showing the progress of the work at every stage. Volume II features 64 plates, most of them double-page or fold-out: maps, terrain profiles, earthworks, tunnels, engineering structures, stations, rolling stock. Provenance: Ernest Genty (1842-1912), member of the company's first board of directors (supralibris).
