Set of two works based on the memoirs of Pierre d'Incarville, François-Xavier d'Entrecolle and Pierre Martial Cibot, three Jesuit missionaries in China. The first details the art of making Chinese paper from bamboo, while the second deals with the extraction of varnish from bamboo. These volumes are illustrated with 24 engraved and hand-colored plates, showing the stages of each process, from bamboo harvesting and papermaking to shipping.
