Beautiful view of San Salvador, capital of the Brazilian state of Bahia, during the Portuguese colonial period. The caption, in Spanish, identifies important buildings and monuments in the city, such as the Convent of Carmo, the Jesuit College and the House of the Marquis, Viceroy of Brazil. The view shows Salvador's bustling port with several ships, as well as a dense concentration of typical colonial structures and a natural landscape in the background. The view is embellished with a title cartouche framed by cherubs.
