In-4 oblong (27 x 36 cm.), 220 prints laminated on 40 strong leaves, fir green half-chagrin with period corners, spine with four nerves and mute, spine boards and endpapers lined with moiré gilt satin (corners dulled, some photos faded). Precious album documenting a trip to India and the Himalayas with Isabelle Massieu between 1894 and 1895. It comprises 220 prints in various formats, most of them albumen prints, all with French captions. It is arranged in chronological order of the journey, passing through cities such as Madura, Trichinopoly, Haidarabad, Pondicherry, Bombay, Ahmedabad, Amber, Jaipur, Lahore, Delhi, Agra, Gwalior, Benares, Calcutta and Darjeeling. Isabelle Massieu can be seen in a number of photos, including one of her leaving a hotel and another on an elephant. Explorer Isabelle Massieu (1844-1932) was the first French woman to enter Nepal.
