[London]. DANET (Guillaume). Plan de la ville de Londres et de Westminster A Paris, Chez Danet, 1727. 1 copper-engraved plan, 42 x 62 cm, mounted on strong paper (margins short, faded, browned and soiled). Grid plan centered on London, offering a detailed view of the city in the 18th century, focusing on the districts of Westminster, Southwark and their surrounding suburbs. The River Thames takes center stage, linking the various urban areas. It is accompanied by explanatory texts and legends providing information on streets, monuments and buildings, while an index makes it easy to locate notable places. The map is also embellished with two vignettes illustrating city monuments designed by Wren: the first depicts St. Mary the Bow Church, and the second, "The Monument", a column erected in 1677 to commemorate the fire of 1666.
