[Savoie]. BORGONIO (Giovanni Tommaso); BLAEU (Johannes, heir - Lot 118
[Savoie]. BORGONIO (Giovanni Tommaso); BLAEU (Johannes, heirs), ed. Tabula generalis Sabaudiae. Amstelodami, Apud Haeredes Joannis Blaeu, 1682. 1 copper-engraved map (54 x 64 cm.), hand-colored (restored cracks in margins and at center fold). A highly decorative map of Savoy drawn by Giovanni Tommaso Borgonio, engraved on copper by Joannnes de Broen and published by the heirs of Johannes Blaeu in 1682. It was the first map in the second volume of the atlas dedicated to Savoy and Piedmont, Theatrum Statuum Regiae Celsitudinis Sabaudiae Ducis, Pedemontii Principis. It extends from Franche-Comté and Switzerland in the north, to part of the Dauphiné in the south, and from Valromey and Bugey in the west, to the Val d'Aoste in the east. The map features nine regional coats of arms held by cherubs, including one embellishing the title cartouche. It also features a scale cartouche.
