Sculpture in beige stone
Signed "Collamarini
circa 1950-1960
H : 110 cm / W : 127 cm / D : 34 cm
Note: René Collamarini discovered his vocation as a sculptor at an early age. In 1921, he entered Jean Boucher's studio at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts in Paris. His passion was for direct stone-cutting, rather than modeling, and throughout his life he worked with architects to create often monumental works to embellish life for the benefit of all. He was particularly fond of working with white or grey marble, ebony and mahogany, and skilfully succeeded in freeing sculpture from its heaviness through the interplay of fullness and emptiness in his dancers, acrobats, women, animals, couples... The sculpture we present illustrates his ability to harmonize the curves of the subject.
