Work from the second half of the 19th century "Rose hip branch" brooch in silver 800‰, yellow gold 750‰ and old-cut diamonds. Pink gold 750‰ pin. Total diamond weight: approx. 2 carats. Dimensions: 5.2x3.5cm. Gross weight: 13.8g. From the estate of Pierre Moitessier (1880-1966), French lawyer and senior civil servant. A prominent family under the Second Empire, the Moitessiers are best remembered for two portraits of Madame Moitessier, née Inès de Foucauld (1821-1897), by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, in the National Gallery in Washington and London.
