French work of the Art Deco period Oval bezel ring in 800‰ silver and faceted oval hematite, rose-cut marcasites on the shoulder. Finger circumference: 56. Dimensions bezel: 1.7x1.1cm. Gross weight: 6.1g. (Wear, deformation). From the estate of Pierre Moitessier (1880-1966), French lawyer and senior civil servant. A prominent family under the Second Empire, the Moitessiers are best remembered for two portraits of Madame Moitessier, née Inès de Foucauld (1821-1897), by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, in the National Gallery in Washington and London.
