Born in 1930, Gilbert Albert is a jeweler from Geneva, where he initially trained and devoted himself to watch design.
Recognized by his peers, he became head of the workshop at Maison Philippe Patek and joined forces with Louis Cottier to create the first universal time watch.
Seduced by the use of unusual materials, he turned to jewelry, specializing in the creation of jewels featuring nature. He opened his workshop in 1962, where he developed his creations playing on the combinations and harmonies of materials derived from the cutting of original stones. His creations are characterized by the use of unusual materials, from beetles and sharks' teeth to meteorites, in an attempt to match nature's sublime irregularity.
Beyond the materials used, Gilbert Albert develops original shapes in his creations, of which his must-have ring with interchangeable beads is an excellent example.
