CHAUMET Paris, 1970s - Lot 175
CHAUMET Paris, 1970s Semi-rigid necklace in textured yellow gold 750 thousandths and brown patina bronze with plant-inspired links interlaced and crisscrossed to form a liana. Ratchet clasp with eight safety catches. Signed "CHAUMET PARIS" on a welded oval plate. French work, diamond-shaped hallmark (JC). Inscription "BRONZE" on the tip and various metal hallmarks (M.D.). Neck size: 40cm. Dimensions of central motif: 9.5x3.5cm. P. Gross weight: 201.5g. (Minor accidents and wear to link joints). This necklace is emblematic of Chaumet's creative abundance in the 1970s-1980s, notably with the L'ARCADE collections. The use of innovative jewelry materials, such as bronze with its various colored patinas, is particularly noteworthy. During these years, René MORIN and Pierre STERLE, assisted by Béatrice de PLINVAL, gave free rein to their imagination in the representation of flora and fauna. The famous "Ginkgo" torque necklace in bronze and gold, designed by Sterlé, is a perfect example of this strong Chaumet aesthetic. An installation entitled "Un Age d'or: 1965-1985", celebrating these rich years, has been organized by Maison Chaumet, in its Place Vendôme salons, from October 5 to December 2, 2023 (Curated by Vanessa Cron).
