VAN CLEEF & ARPELS, 1940s-1950s - Lot 116
VAN CLEEF & ARPELS, 1940s-1950s Double leaf" lapel clip brooch in 950mm platinum and 750mm white gold stylizing two naturalistic leaves paved and set with half-cut, baguette-cut and 8/8-cut diamonds. 750mm white gold pins, later serrated systems. Signed "V.C.A." and numbered "51.204". French work, partially legible diamond-shaped Workshop hallmark. Dimensions: 9.7x2.2cm. P. Gross weight: 20.8g. During the 1940s-1950s, Van Cleef's taste for flora was unavoidable. Compositions made from multiple leaves were particularly fashionable, either treated "in white" (platinum and diamonds) or in color. Leaves are ribboned, braided, twisted, arranged in chevrons or crossed. Our "Double feuille" brooch is an excellent illustration.
