A FRIEND OF CERVANTES. - Lot 233
A FRIEND OF CERVANTES.
[BARBADILLO (Salas)]. LE COUREUR DE NUIT ou les douze périlleuses avantures du Chevalier Dom Diego surnommé Noctambule.
Lyon, Jean Viret, 1701.
One volume in-12 (6 ff, 336 pp) full basane, brown marbled, ribbed spine decorated, red edges (18th-century binding a little mishandled).
New edition, revised, enlarged and enriched with twelve unsigned hors-texte intaglio figures.
Often confused with Quevedo's Buscon, it is in fact a different work attributed to Salas Barbadillo, a friend of Cervantes.
Palau, 243958. He described it without a figure, attributing it to Quevedo!
