Fine edition illustrated with a frontispiece and eight color plates by Charles Martin. Printed by Coulouma in Argenteuil. The original edition dates from 1902.
Here we have an unexpected aspect of Don Quixote: he has woken up, his head empty of chimeras, and from now on has only one concern: to make tolerance reign on an island where he is viceroy. He sought to "cauterize the canker of superstition", but all to no avail.
The leader of the fantasy school is still haunted by Cervantes' hero in the middle of the twentieth century.
Palau, 338072. First illustrated edition.
