D'APRES CERVANTES. DON QUIXOTE AND THE MILLS. - Lot 144
D'APRES CERVANTES. DON QUIXOTE AND THE MILLS. No place, Van Stuyvaert, [1937]. Large etching (21 cm x 25 cm at the bowl). Depicts an arrogant Don Quixote preparing to charge the mills. Numbered 27 of 65 copies. The plate is signed Van Stuyvaert and dated 1937. Victor Stuyvaert was born on November 5, 1897 in Ghent, where he died on April 2, 1974. He belonged to the Belgian School, but stood out from Frans Masereel's group with a less harsh line and a grace that can be said to be more Latin (Benezit IX, 887).
