Foulché-Delbosc, 126: "Extremely rare edition not cited by Rius, only mentioned by Palau (53521) according to a 1766 catalog describing this copy, which appears to be unique. " Palau mentions four leaves at the beginning of the second volume, whereas this copy has only one. The title of the second volume has not been preserved. The 1620-1621 edition, which Palau describes as a second edition, is in fact an exact reprint of this one. François de Rosset's translation of the first six short stories is excellent, and has long been considered the standard for translations. A copy bearing the arms of the Duc de La Rochefoucauld, with the library of the Château de La Roche-Guyon stamped on the title.
