Posthumous novel published by his widow, written at the same time as the second part of Le Quichotte. The novel's intricate plot, with its constant twists and turns, allows the author to indulge his imagination. Cervantes implicitly declared his desire to rival Heliodorus, whose Ethiopics were considered the model of classicism in the 17th century (Laffont-Bompiani). Cervantes attached great importance to this novel, which he placed above Quixote. Palau, 53895: Immediatamente déspuès de aparecer la primera se hizo esta segunda edicion, que tambien es muy rara. Rius, 348: por los terminos de las licencias se conoce que esta edicion se hizo en seguida de haber aparecido la principe. Tiene carateres de buen cuerpo y esta bien impresa.
