Travail de la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle - Lot 27
Travail de la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle River necklace in 750-thousandths rose gold and 800-thousandths silver, composed of articulated drop links entirely set with rose-cut and crown-cut diamonds. Transformable, the necklace is adorned with three detachable rose hip branch motifs in 585 thousandths rose gold and 800 thousandths silver, set with old-cut and rose-cut diamonds. The central element's pendants are also removable. Total diamond weight: approx. 17 to 18 carats. Neck size: 41cm. Dimensions of motifs: 7.3x6.9cm, 6.1x2.7cm and 5.3x2.7cm. P. Total gross weight: 88.8g. (One rose missing). With burgundy morocco presentation case signed "AUGER Joaillier Place des Victoires Paris" (engraved). This necklace is emblematic of the "transformation" jewelry pieces fashionable in the second half of the 19th century, expressed in the naturalistic style. The necklace "transforms" and adapts to different outfits, activities and times of day. In fact, the rose-hip branch motifs-particularly popular at the time-are removable, giving the necklace and its pendants a wide range of wear options: the elements can be worn separately, as a brooch (a fastening on the reverse of one of the motifs bears witness to this) or in the hair, adorning bun pins.
