BOURDELLE, Antoine (1861-1929). Set of 2 interesting letters - Lot 152
BOURDELLE, Antoine (1861-1929). Set of 2 interesting letters: -L.A.S. to painter and engraver Albert Besnard. Paris, March 10, 1924. 2 pp. large in-4. Additions and corrections. Three clumsy restorations without affecting the text. Bourdelle confusedly asks him to be the Commandeur in the next Chancellery appointment: "Allow me to choose you. My dear President, as the one, along with Rodin, who best represents the great Art of our country. Allow me to choose you as the one to whom the Chancellery will be able to transmit, if you accept, the necessary powers, and that you may wish to receive me as Commander. Years ago, you announced to me - at Mr Jacques Rouché's home - your intention to nominate me for a knighthood. And because I deeply admire the author of the Ecole de pharmacie (fresco) and so many strong and noble works, I beg Albert Besnard to let himself be chosen by me [...]". Fine signature. -L.A.S. to J.-P. Oury. Villa Ogier, Marseille, August 5, 1918. 1 p. in-8. Beautiful, friendly letter from Bourdelle: "Affectionate collaboration is the highest fruit of the tree of love [...]".
