Robert Roux Archaeology of the future, 2014 Mixed... - Lot 11 - Gros & Delettrez
Robert Roux Archaeology of the future, 2014 Mixed media on canvas Triptych 89X33 cm ARCHEOLOGY OF THE FUTURE Where does this name come from? From a text written by Ben for an article, entitled: "Robert Roux, ARCHEOLOGUE DU FUTUR". "What if what you have in front of you (the can crushed by a bus) could, in the distant future, be what represents Homo Sapiens? Imagine a civilization of aliens landing on planet Earth 100,000 years from now. What will they find? All the masters' paintings will have disappeared. Burlap doesn't hold up, but beer cans, Coca Cola etc. are everywhere. Then they'll start digging, and suddenly, big surprise, the archaeologists from the distant planet will find an explanation for those millions of cans on Boulevard de la Madeleine! (....) A certain Robert Roux, himself an archaeologist of the future, wanted to leave us a message: "Beauty is all around you, you just have to see it". Ben Vautier
