Fine and exceptional Kachan Mortachem (workshop of master Mortachemi, Persia) late 19th century. High-quality silky lambswool velvet on cotton foundation. Density of approx. 8,000 knots per dm2. Beautiful polychromy. Good overall condition. Ivory field with scrolls of fine twisted crenellated branches in sky blue and midnight blue, surrounded by polychrome flower buds, and framing a large central ruby floral medallion in the shape of diamonds and surrounded by palmettes in the shape of spearheads. Four midnight-blue spandrels decorated with multicolored floral bulbs. Triple border, the main one midnight blue with original polychrome flower compositions and star-shaped flower cones surrounded by finely drawn foliage. 200 x 139 cm
