Signed lower left, founder's mark Susse Frères Editeurs. 25.3 x 18.4 cm In a mahogany easel frame. 33.5 x 26.5 cm Note: This composition is an unrealized frontispiece project for Victor Hugo's Châtiments, intended for etching. A bronze copy was exhibited at the Salon, S.N.B.A. in 1890. Other copies, in plaster, one at the Petit Palais and one at the Musée d'Orsay (RF 2464). Produced in cookie by the Manufacture de Sèvres and in bronze by Susse.
