HUGO, Adèle (née Foucher, 1803-1868), wife of Victor Hugo for nearly 46 years. Set of 2 letters. -L.A.S. to her brother Paul Foucher. Hauteville House, Guernsey, September 4 [1857]. 3 pp. 1/2 in-8. She evokes her husband, their close relations, her famous house of Guernsey in work and the exile, which she judges severe in particular for the children. She is about to write a book on ALFRED DE MUSSET and asks for information to her brother who was the friend of the poet. Adèle Hugo asks her correspondent to insert in her newspaper an article by her husband and evokes her children: "[...] Victor Hugo will be very grateful to you to put it in your newspaper, and then you will be happy to be pleasant to this excellent young man who loves you very much and who was so happy to produce his talent in a newspaper where you put so much of yours [...]. My children had the time of their lives yesterday at your place [...]".
