[MONACO]. PONTCHARTRAIN, Louis Phélypeaux, count of (1643-17 - Lot 130
[MONACO]. PONTCHARTRAIN, Louis Phélypeaux, count of (1643-1727) minister, controller general of finances and Chancellor of France. L.S. addressed to the marquis Charles II of Grimaldi-Régusse. Versailles, May 26, 1711. 1 p. in-folio. Two freckles. Interesting document relating to the conflicts of the Grimaldi family, of Monaco. Pontchartrin, then chancellor of France, authorizes the marquis of Régusse, lawyer at the parliament of Aix, to go to Monaco, when it will please him "for the arrangement of which you speak to me, since M. the Prince of Monaco [Antoine Ier (1661-1731), 3rd prince of Monaco] named you for arbitrator of the disputes which are between Mrs de Grimaldy [...]". However, he must be careful not to delay his own affairs and must make sure that "the public does not notice".
