MADAME ROYALE, Marie-Thérèse-Charlotte de France, duchesse d - Lot 110
MADAME ROYALE, Marie-Thérèse-Charlotte de France, duchesse d'Angoulême, dite (1778-1851), daughter of Louis XVI. Set of 2 documents: -L.A.S. of her initials "M.T.", addressed to the Duchess of Levis. " G..... " [Goritz], January 6, 1844. 2 pp. in-8. Address on the verso of the second leaf "To Mde. Dse de L....". Madame Royale evokes the illness of her husband, the Duke of Angouleme "my husband has been suffering for a long time from his pains for three weeks he has not gone out" however she still hopes for an improvement, which will not happen: he will die six months later, in the same place. She mentions the success of their children, Alix, the Duke of Levis, etc. -P.A. S.l., 1808. 2 pp. in-8 narrow. Band of laid paper fixed in the margin with these words: " Souvenirs écrit par la duchesse d'Angoulême ". Curious and interesting document, written in a tiny handwriting by Madame Royale, giving the weather calendar with its comments, on two columns: "M. 8. 9 nasty cold", "M. 9.6 snow hurricane", "J. 10. 15 beautiful cold", "D.10. 3 sleet", "from 16 to 26. nasty the rest of the month beautiful but not hot arrival of the wood on the 4th", etc.
