[NAPOLEON I] - Lot 130
[NAPOLEON I] Correspondence from Napoleon I to Félix Julien Jean Bigot de Préameneu (Rennes 1747-1825). A collection of numerous facsimiles of letters signed by the Emperor, addressed to one of the four jurists who wrote the French Civil Code at his request, in a large in-4 album. The original letters were given by the daughter of Bigot de Préameneu to the Conseil d'Etat. The documents extend from 29 Vendémiaire Year 11 (21 October 1802) to 17 April 1815, the period corresponding to Bigot de Préameneu's appointment to the presidency of the section of Legislation at the Conseil d'Etat, until the end of the Hundred Days. This correspondence bears witness to the military events of the time and the decisions of the Emperor. The whole is bound in a volume in-4 in full morocco, spine titled, with the figures E.L. at the foot, gilt edges, a fragile bit and a detached plate, under cover. The pieces are laminated on strong cardboard mounted on tabs.
