Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) - Lot 59
Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) Dove, 1964 Felt-tip drawing on the exhibition catalog of P.Picasso's paintings between 1962-1963 at the Louise Leiris Gallery from January 15 to February 15, 1964. Signed and dedicated "For Mr. Russier" and dated 14.3.64. 16,5 x 16,5 cm It was in 1949 that Picasso suggested the dove as a symbol of peace to illustrate -at the request of Louis Aragon- the poster of the first World Congress of Peace Supporters in Paris. The original drawing is kept in the Museum of Modern Art of the city of Paris. Inspired in particular by the dove on Noah's Ark, which, by bringing back an olive branch, signifies the end of the flood, the white bird, embodying purity and wisdom, became a pacifist symbol. There is attached a greeting card representing two portraits of women in ceramics by Picasso "With my thanks Jacqueline Picasso". A certificate of authenticity of the Picasso Committee dated January 25, 2022 will be given to the buyer
