LOUIS VUITTON - Lot 426
LOUIS VUITTON Champs Elysées n°146446, lock n°050745 circa 1929 Saffron vuittonite linen secretary for man, figured "J.A.D", corners, edges, lateral leather handles, gilded brass locks, vertical opening, front, compartmentalized interior. Dimensions: 56 x 51 x 90cm.Bibliography: "And more precisely a linen secretary. Developed in the 1910s, this type of wardrobe trunk - presented as the indispensable complement to the wardrobe - forms with the shoe secretary a real travel trousseau for ladies and gentlemen. (...) The men's version comes with compartments for gloves, ties, handkerchiefs, collars, scarves, neckerchiefs, a drawer for two hats, and drawers for shirts, linen and three pairs of boots. Vertical to avoid bending down too much, the linen secretary can be short or tall, easy to handle and takes up little space in a room, without having to take out the contents during your stay. A retractable writing tablet designed to scribble a few notepads and castle letters justifies the name of secretary. A principle which seduces essentially the Americans. « "Louis Vuitton -100 Trunks of Legend" published by Editions de la Martinière.
