André MALRAUX. - Lot 102
André MALRAUX. Model of "Psychology of Art". Copy of one of the last models executed by Malraux of his "Psychology of Art", using as usual the printed version of the three volumes already bearing the definitive titles of Musée Imaginaire, Création Artistique et Monnaie de l'Absolu, printed for the first time in 1947, 1948 and 1950, and here assembled in a single strong volume bound in a half-basane with strips, tobacco, placed in a protective case. This model includes, like the many other models Malraux made, corrections and additions, by someone other than the writer's hand. Moreover, only one correction, page 15, of the first volume, will be included in the final printed version. There are also numerous reproductions of paintings and sculptures, cut out, captioned in ink or lead pencil, and added by lamination on the back of pages that have remained blank, but none of these laminations will appear in the final version. Perhaps these transformations were envisaged by Malraux for the republication of this same work, planned for 1951. It should be noted that in the frontispiece of "La Création Artistique", a very beautiful and large gouache drawing of a wine cup has been added, bearing the handwritten legend Kyatos (wine cup for drawing) [circa 540-520 A.C.]. "This triumph ... as fragile as it is dazzling," what other one?
