Max JACOB. - Lot 34
Max JACOB. Signed epistolary manuscript, written between 1928 and 1936, by Max Jacob which he signed with the name of "Jean Filon, Priest", and which he addressed to "a professor of the seminary of X...". Max Jacob gives a title to his letter which he calls "The Tutor" and which relates the problems of a "poor young priest", in charge of the education of a young child named Paul Pesquier, whose parents never cease to disrupt the evolution as well as his teaching to the child, by a hostile and violent attitude. The manuscript consists of 6 in-4 leaves, written in black ink, with some erasures, overwritten and additions. The leaves are foliated from the second one and end with this formula "for true copy and without comments. Max Jacob. Proofs 55 rue nollet Paris XVIIth". It is accompanied by an autograph letter signed by Max Jacob, addressed from the same address, on February 3, 1934, to Georges Pillement, in which he asks his friend to place a few texts in the reviews he collaborates with. He said he would send him a "small manuscript", certainly the one presented here. The letter is one page long.
