[Autographs] Jean-François de SAINT-LAMBERT (Nancy 1716-1803), a soldier, philosopher, storyteller and poet from Lorraine, whose masterpiece "Les Saisons" brought him to the Académie Française. During the Revolution, he retired to Eaubonne to work with Sophie d'Houdetot, Jean-Jacques Rousseau's muse, with whom he had a long relationship. Set of 8 autograph letters signed by Saint-Lambert, addressed to Eaubonne or Sannois, and Paris for one of them, undated, probably written between 1792 and 1798, all addressed to the Justice of the Peace, the citizen Pointard, rue Pavée in Paris. The latter managed the poet's affairs and collected his annuities and pensions. All the letters relate to Saint-Lambert's repeated requests to receive his annuities, sometimes being "in extreme need". These 8 letters form 16 pages, of all formats, mounted on tabs or window-mounted, sometimes with ink spills, traces of wax seal, and are gathered in an in-8 volume bound in a half-marquin with corners, spine with 4 jumped nerves, titled lengthwise, with a golden head.
