Extremely rare “Mangiafino”, a felt boy from the LENCI Compa - Lot 137
Extremely rare “Mangiafino”, a felt boy from the LENCI Company from the late Twenties. It was in the pages of “Corriere dei Piccoli”, an Italian children’s magazine, that on August 7, 1927 was published the result of a competition announced by the character of “Mangiafino”, that Lenci made for the occasion. The very first known version of this model had mitten hands and legs sewn in the front, whereas the specimen presented here already had hands with separate fingers, with the exception of the ring finger and the medium sewn together, and legs sewn in the back, distributed since the 1928/1929 collection. The specimen presented here is in very good condition, it only lacks the white skin belt, worn under the waist, and it keeps its printed label, used by Lenci between 1926 and 1931. 17” tall without the hat, it stands 19” when covered.
