Rare Viennese table cabinet attributed to Joseph Wiedmann This Austrian craftsman, specialized in leather-covered furniture, is known for the exquisite quality of his creations. In particular, he has realized signed orders for the largest courts in Europe as well as for the Vatican. The model presented here, without signature and in a very good state of preservation, is covered with Morocco leather on all sides, the gilding with small irons is still vivid. Two Renaissance-inspired portraits decorate the two front panels, opening by the action of a key in good working order. The front niche is covered with green and gold leather showing some traces of wear. A central drawer is decorated with a coat of arms that we could not identify. Made during the last quarter of the 19th century, this exceptional piece of furniture is at the right scale to be associated with dolls of this period. 16½‘’ in height, 12’’ in width, 6½‘’ in depth
