Lady's watch in yellow gold 750 thousandths, case "padlock" with stirrup, small square dial gilded with square and round indexes, mechanical movement, screwed bottom, on two rows of "snake chain". French work. Marked by the workshop VERGER Frères. Length : 18cm. Gross weight: 64 g. (One row slightly slackened). Created in 1935, this watch is an iconic example of Van Cleef & Arpels' feminine "jewel watch", a symbol of the elegance of the Art Deco period, allowing to watch the time discreetly. Originally produced under the name "Agrafe", this watch was renamed "Cadenas" in 1938. Bibliography : E. POSSEME (ed.)
