MONACO, Prince Albert 1st of (1848-1922). Set of 2 L.A.S. Tunis, July 3, 1901 and May 14, 1907. 2 pp. in-12. Crowned figures in head. Very interesting letters of the oceanographer prince, about the protection of sea birds. The admirable oceanographer prince, Albert 1st of Monaco, wants to protect the marine fauna: "Here is the speech more or less rebuilt. The questions of the Congress which interest me particularly. The justification of a protective law for marine birds [...]". He also refers to a humorous note "inspired by our trip north. It will be of interest to more than one worker on my ship [...]", etc. We enclose -An official invitation, partly handwritten, to Dr. Springer to come and have lunch with Albert I of Monaco "to celebrate the almost recovery of the Prince who, on this occasion, wishes to gather some friends. He died a few months later. -L.A.S. from the zoologist and marine biologist Paul PORTIER (1866-1962). He accompanied Albert 1st of Monaco in his expeditions. Paris, October 12, 1924. 3 pp. in-8.
