LUMIÈRE, Louis (1864-1948), inventor of the... - Lot 295 - Gros & Delettrez
LUMIÈRE, Louis (1864-1948), inventor of the cinematograph. L.D.S. addressed to Jean Rey. [Bandol] Villa Lumen, July 11, 1940. 1 p. in-4. Small tear at the central fold, some creasing. During the Second World War, Louis Lumière recommends Pathé and Gaumont. "[...] I have never been personally involved in film exploitation or film production other than what was necessary for the realization of my experiments [...]". It would be better for his correspondent to address himself to "one of the big companies Pathé or Gaumont [...]", "as soon as the situation will be a little more normal [...]". The cinematographic means were then controlled by the Reich.
