LEBRUN, Charles-François (1739-1824), third Consul, duke of Plaisance and archtreasurer of the Empire. L.A.S. addressed to Joseph BONAPARTE. Institut National, 25 germinal year II [14 April 1794]. 1/2 p. in-4. Joseph Bonaparte is received in the Academy. Lebrun announces to Joseph Bonaparte his reception to the National Institute, future French Academy: " The citizen Joseph Bonaparte was named member of the 3rd class of the National Institute with the plurality of 23 votes on 32. 9 votes were lost on five or six other candidates. I offer to my new colleague the assurance of my inviolable attachment [...] ". He joined Chénier, Lebrun, David, Pajou, Houdon, Méhul, Molé, Daunou, Cambacérès, Laplace, Monge, Lalande, Haüy, Lamarck, Desfontaines, Daubenton, Lacépède, etc. The third class of the Institute corresponded to literature and fine arts and included the following categories: grammar, ancient languages, poetry, antiquities and monuments, painting, sculpture, architecture, music and declamation.
