[LAURISTON, Jacques Alexandre Law de (1768-1828),... - Lot 95 - Gros & Delettrez
[LAURISTON, Jacques Alexandre Law de (1768-1828), marshal of the Empire, diplomat and French politician]. Manuscript entitled "Mon Voyage au Monténégro". S.l.n.d. [early 19th c.]. 12 pp. in-4, bound. Blue paper with small lack to the title page without damage. Some corrections and additions. Very interesting preparatory manuscript for the conquest of Montenegro, in the wake of the Dalmatian campaign, containing the "Notes on the means of invading Montenegro with an armed hand according to the various circumstances that could oppose it". Four hypotheses are outlined: Montenegro defends itself alone, or united with the superior mountains, with the Russians or with the Ottomans. "In any case it is necessary to expect to see the English trying to disturb the French operations by sea". Following are the strategic details for conquering these lands, geographical details: district of Cattaro, Perasto, Cubilla & Lustiza, Cettigné, etc.; difficulties of the terrain, type of weapons "Machine gun for the plain, cannonball for the mountains", etc.
