"My father-in-law Prince Jerome de Monfort [Montfort: Jerome Bonaparte, brother of Emperor Napoleon I] has sent me the interesting letter that you kindly addressed to him, recounting to him, as an eyewitness, the ceremonies that took place at St. Helena for the exhumation of the remains of Emperor Napoleon. The story touched my wife [Mathilde Bonaparte, niece of the Emperor] deeply. He explains the emotion caused by "the faithful narration of such a great event [...]".
