The wedding of Louis XV and Marie Leszczynska,... - Lot 18 - Gros & Delettrez
The wedding of Louis XV and Marie Leszczynska, Europe, circa 1725 Rare fan of broken type in cut wood and painted with landscapes. In the center, a couple meeting under a tree. Both are wearing ermine-lined coats, symbols of their membership in a royal family. This is probably an evocation of the marriage of King Louis XV and Marie Leszczynska, daughter of the King of Poland, celebrated in Paris in September 1725. On both sides, rich decoration of flowers, scrolls and characters cut out of embossed and gilded paper. The simulated throat painted with characters reminiscent of China. The bone plumes with engraved decoration, enhanced with embossed and gilded leaves. The head is covered with a brown tortoiseshell plate**. H.t. 21,5 cm (accidents, restorations, small missing parts)
