ROHARD, Léon. [Plans masses et de coupes ou d'élévations pour des concours. Beaux-Arts de Paris]. [Paris], 1856-1858. In sheets, mixed techniques (pencil sketch, brown ink and wash, watercolor) on heavy paper, mounted under blue canson matting, with handwritten annotations and stamps (very discreet soiling or oxidation, not serious). Three architectural drawings, by the same hand, numbered and dated by hand, validated by signature and stamp in black ink of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts / Concours, which are projects for a theater and store, of the Second Empire period and style. Signature in red ink of the student, Léon Rohard, Eleve de Mr. Constant Dufeux, on one of the drawings. Each drawing is validated by Duvivier's autograph signature next to the Concours des Beaux-Arts stamp. -N°54, May 7, 1856. [Façade of a bronze art and sculpture store]. Longitudinal view of façade, ground plan and cross-section (32.5 x 33 cm). Léon Rohard (1836-1882) was a French architect who studied at the Beaux-Arts de Paris in the class of 1855. He became a member of the Société centrale des architectes français (now the Académie d'Architecture) and is best known for the Grand Théâtre de Tours, the Palais de Justice de Baugé, various works in Touraine and Anjou, and for having been Victor Laloux's teacher.
