Contemporary or slightly later sewn vellum, title in ink on spine, edges speckled with blue (some browning to vellum, notably at heads and edges of volumes, small tear to a cut in volume IV, slight wear to lower corners. Very discreet even oxidation of the paper, with a few ff. at the beginning of each volume more lightly browned or stained, one portrait and 8 views lacking). The work remains fresh overall, with discreet old watercoloring on a portrait in Volume I. Complete in 4 volumes and profusely illustrated with 170 black etchings. Comprising 118 engravings of views of besieged cities, ports or fortresses, with attacks on places and cannons (sometimes folding), and 52 bust portraits on pedestals bearing the arms of each character. Published after the Austro-Turkish Holy League War of 1684, dedicated to Antonio Grutther, Duke of Santa Severina in Calabria in the late 17th century. Imperial, Polish, Venetian and Muscovite armies, with detailed descriptions of cities and fortresses. Old handwritten ex libris, Carusio or Garusio to titles (redacted on 2 volumes).
