Georges BEGUET (1884-1952) Rectangular bronze plaque for the Rallye Méditerranée Niger - Centenary of Algeria 1830 - 1930 Signed by sculptor Georges BEGUET, Grand Prix Artistique de l'Algérie 1924. Marked by the Janvier-Berchot mint. Engraved attribution to J.M. BENARD In its case. 6 x 8cm Notes : The first Saharan Rally for touring cars was organized in 1930, to mark the centenary of French Algeria. No fewer than eleven teams took part, including Ford, Citroën, Renault, Cottin-Desgouttes, Delahaye, Chenard & Walcker, Fiat, Delage, Bugatti, Hotchkiss, Delaunay, Panhard, Voisin... a total of 44 vehicles. J.M. Besnard, entered in team n°7 in the Citroën C6 n°28, driven by M. Gendron.
