It includes a portrait of the author, Contents: (6) ff, 408 pp, (3) ff, 1 allegorical frontispiece, 1 portrait, 1 fold-out map, 95 / 97 plates, 44 of which are fold-outs. " " " Heavily illustrated second French edition of the voyage by Dutch painter Cornelis de Bruijn (1652 - 1727). It features 97 intaglio plates, including 44 fold-outs with spectacular panoramic views of Constantinople, Rhodes etc., and 114 figures in the text. The first French edition dates from 1700, published in Delft by H. de Kroonevelt, and is based on the original Dutch edition published in 1698 by the same publisher. The painter traveled to the Levant between 1678 and 1685.
