New edition of this work, first published in 1646 and acclaimed by scholars of the time. It is the major work of Samuel Bochart (1599-1667), a Rouen-born pastor who ministered in Caen.
Divided into two parts, the work deals with the peoples mentioned in Genesis, followed by the Phoenicians. The edition also includes two letters from the author and important indexes. It is illustrated with an engraved text plate, and 4 fold-out plates featuring several maps covering the Mediterranean and Near East, including one devoted to Sicily.
