Small in-4, [8] f., 277 p., figs, contemporary brown calf, 5-ribbed spine, title-piece (binding worn and warped, covers torn off; interior defects including light wetness and worm spots in margins, as is).
First French edition of this important treatise, originally published in 1620, in two parts, the first following Ptolemy's "improper" hypothesis that the earth is immobile, and the second following Copernicus' intention that the earth is mobile. The illustration consists of woodcut figures in the text, including one in the title of the second part.
