[ROUGET DE LISLE]. "Hymne patriotique dite des Marseillois". - Lot 105
[ROUGET DE LISLE]. "Hymne patriotique dite des Marseillois". Musical manuscript in an anonymous hand. [Probably Béarn (watermark)], late 18th century. 1 p. 1/3 small folio.
Rare revolutionary-era copy of "La Marseillaise" with six staves of notes (for the first of six verses):
"Allons enfants de la Patrie
The day of glory has come
Against us of tyranny
The bloody standard is raised
Do you hear, in our countryside
These ferocious soldiers roar!
They come into our arms
To slaughter your sons your companions
To arms, citizens, form your battalions
Let impure blood water our furrows [ ]".
The other five verses follow.
A moving document of French history.
