BOUILLON, Emmanuel-Théodose de La Tour d'Auvergne, cardinal of (1643-1715). L.A.S. "le card de Bouillon", addressed to Jean-Baptiste COLBERT (1619-1683). Courtrai, May 23, 1673. 1 p. in-4. Address on the verso of the second sheet and red wax seals with the arms of the cardinal. Watermark bunch of grapes. Small lack of paper in the left margin with minimal damage to the text. Bouillon enjoins Colbert to be interested in "the proposals that the elected of the third state" in the Mâcon region: "The interest that I take, Sir, because of my Abbey of Tournus [the abbey Saint-Philibert of Tournus] in the proposals that the elected representative of the third estate of the Maconois must have the honor to make to you, obliges me to beg you to want to listen favorably to him, as all the things that he must propose to you tend only to the relief of the poor and the perfection of some very useful works for the [?] I am convinced, Sir, that they will be very agreeable to you, and that they will hardly need my recommendation [...]".
